Meta Connect 2023, NBA news, Flooding in NYC and more

Meta Connect 2023
Meta had their annual Meta Connect 2023 last week. Two of the exciting they released were: the next generation of Meta glasses and the Meta Quest 3 mixed reality headset.
Last week I shared about Amazon glasses and this week Meta announced their next generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses in partnership with EssilorLuxottica.
The new glasses feature improved audio and cameras, over 150 different custom frame and lens combinations, and they’re lighter and more comfortable.
You can now livestream from the glasses to Facebook or Instagram, and use “Hey Meta” to engage with Meta AI, our advanced conversational assistant, just by using your voice.
They also introduced “Hey Meta” to interact with Meta AI, their advanced AI-powered conversational assistant. This is a great feature since you can practically get hands-free for clicking photos and recording videos.
Even though they have focused on privacy a lot, I am worried about the Nosedive episode of Black Mirror coming closer to reality.
They also released Meta Quest 3, the first mass-market AR/VR headset.

I have used Meta Quest 2 and it’s quite fun to play with. The only thing is I can’t get into a habit of using it. It takes some effort to put it on and then it was heavy (hope this one is lighter). Another problem with games is motion sickness, which makes you not use it for long. So I am hoping they have made it better. I am excited to use the new one and see if it is better and maybe they would accept a trade-in for my old headset for the new one.

Damien Lillard
If you are into NBA you would have definitely heard this name and also definitely would’ve heard the big news about Damien Lillard. After starting his NBA career in 2012 and playing for the Portland Blazers for 10 years, he has been traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. Why is it a big deal? Dame has been the start of the Portland team and has always been a rockstar for the team. A lot of players have moved around a lot so that they can have a better chance at the NBA championship but Dame has never moved before. Even though he hasn’t even been a champion, he stayed at Portland.
He left a very heartfelt message for the Blazers team and Portland fans on Instagram:
So what does it mean for the Bucks? According to Shams, the Bucks have the highest odds of winning the upcoming NBA championship. I think they are probably the best team now in the league and it would be fun to see if there’s any team who can challenge this team. Maybe LeBron and the Lakers might have something in the bag, or Steph and Klay can still do their magic and give them a run for their money. Whatever the case, Dame would be playing as if it’s his last playoffs and try to win the championship at any cost.
NYC Flooding
On Friday, New York City and nearby areas saw massive rains which resulted in some crazy flooding in and around the city. The most affected areas were Queens and Brooklyn. They saw around 2’’-to 5’’ rain. The city is practically paralyzed and a state of emergency has been declared in the city.
Videos of water getting into people's houses have been seen on social media. NYC subway which is the lifeline of the city has been flooded too. Check this video out, it’s so messed up and scary. Even public transport on the roads filled up with water.

Even Laguardia Airport had to shut down Terminal A due to water seeping inside the terminal.
A friend of mine lives in Hoboken where he says the street is flooded with water. It’s been a crazy day.
Hope people find safe space and the city gets back to normal soon. praying for them.
